American Commercial Lines Announces New Three Year Agreement for Shipyard Employees and Teamsters Local 89

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ:ACLI) (“ACL” or the “Company”) has secured a three year agreement for its shipyard employees with the General Drivers, Warehousemen & Helpers (Teamsters), Local Union No. 89. The three year agreement, which was ratified by over 95% of the voters, provides for first year wage increases ranging from 5% to 18% for various job positions resulting in an overall average wage increase of approximately 11%. Sweetwater Union High School District Signs Contract for Lawson Human Capital Management Suite

Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) has recently announced that Sweetwater Union High School District in Chula Vista, Calif., licensed its Human Capital Management suite to help streamline administration of the district’s human resources processes. New research has confirmed the market’s link of suppliers and customers across industries. When good fortune smiles on a company, the stock market responds by valuing the firm more favorably. It’s well known that good news for one firm means other companies in the same industry will be affected as well. But according to new research from business professors at Washington University in St. Louis, The Ohio State University and University of Rochester, we can anticipate something else that isn’t as obvious: there’s also a predictable connection between news announcements of a company and its suppliers or customers.

Central Freight Lines Completes Going-Private Transaction

The transaction, which was approved by Central’s stockholders on November 21, was accomplished through the merger of Green Acquisition Company with and into Central, with Central as the surviving corporation.
